Tarragon French
Artemisia dracunculus sativa
Perennial herb to 400mm by 500mm which spreads by rhizome. French Tarragon can be propagated by root divisions or stem cuttings, but doesn't grow to true from seed. French Tarragon has aromatic dark green to olive green leaves, with a delicate peppery aniseed flavour which slightly numbs the tongue. Requires full to partial sunlight. Dies down over winter, but regenerates in spring. Grows well in cool and warm climates, and in hot areas if water is kept up to it. An important addition to every kitchen garden. French Tarragon is a hardy perennial that produces masses of long, narrow, aromatic foliage. The plant is easy to grow in a sunny spot with well drained soil. Its foliage is rich in vitamins and can be used in variety of recipes and vinegars. French Tarragon has more flavour and is superior in its culinary qualities than Russian Tarragon.
