Oregano- Wild

Oreganum vulgare

Found naturally on the mountain sides of Greece & Italy, this Perennial will normally grow to about 60cm with Purple/pink flowers. Wild Oregano is prized for it's medicinal properties. Grown commercially for the oil from its leaves which is used to help fight infections. The leaves were used by the ancient Greeks & Romans to prevent infections in open wounds & up until the 1950's, Wild Oregano was used to sterilise surgical equipment.
