Perennial to 1 metre. Deep green glossy leaves with a higher protein content than mushrooms!
Rich in vitamins A,C, calcium and iron. Leaves have a mild mushroom flavour and can be added to salads or stir fries and soups at the end of cooking to ensure full flavour.
It needs rich soil and a shady spot to grow at its best. It will also respond well to regular harvesting to keep the plant bushy and productive.
Excellent addition to the sub tropical or tropical garden. In cooler areas it needs protection.
