Lovage
Levisticum officinale
This striking perennial plant produces masses of celery scented foliage that can be used in soups and stews as a celery substitute. Lovage can grow to 2 metres tall so be sure to plant it in the back of the border. It's very hardy and heat and drought resistant. In midsummer, the plants sent up large stalks of yellow-green flowers that develop aromatic seeds you can use in bread or rice.
