Cherry or Strawberry Guava
Psidium littorale
Evergreen bushy shrub ranging from 3-6m high, smaller in pots. It has white flowers which bloom in Spring. The fruit is round, plum sized and a deep red colour. The flesh is juicy and believed to have the best flavour of all the guava's, whilst also being very high in vitamin C. Grows in a variety of soil types, but does need good drainage. Cherry Guava dislikes low temperatures but will tolerate some frost and are hardier to cold than the common guava once established.
