Roman Chamomile
Chamaemelum nobile
Roman Chamomile is one of those small plants that packs a big aromatic punch. It makes a scented bright green ground cover in cool summer climates. Often used in England to fill in cracks between pavers or as a path cover or even as a soft bench cover, it is sometimes referred to as English Chamomile. This low growing perennial (up to 30 cm tall) has fern-like leaves and yellow and white flowers , similar to daisies. Medicinally, Roman Chamomile can be used as a calming herb tea, or a hair rinse. Grows well as a ground cover under established trees, or in pots placed in a semi shady spot. Flowers can be used fresh or dried.
