Cardamon is widely used as a flavouring for savoury and sweet dishes in South Asia. Its oil has antibacterial qualities and is used as a food preservative.The leaves have a spicy fragrance and can be used to wrap around fish, rice or vegetables to add flavour during cooking.

Cardamon requires a rich, acidic soil with excellent drainage.
