Cardamom Leaf Plant, also known as Dwarf Cardamom & Cinnamon Ginger

Alpinia nutans

This plant is actually a member of the Ginger family & is an evergreen perennial that grows to about 1 metre. It's beautiful flowers appear on a stem about 30cm long. It's leaves have a sweet cinnamon smell when touched, & it is the leaves that are used to cook with. Although it does have some of the medicinal properties of Ginger this plant is used more as an ornamental plant & is best suited to tropical/sub tropical climates.
