Cape Gooseberry
Physalis peruviana
Originally from South America, the Cape Gooseberry produces bright yellow edible berries. Flowers are yellow with purple blotches. The delicious berries make perfect lunchbox treats for kids as they are incased in their own papery wrapper. Excess berries can be used in desserts, jams and garnishes. Suitable for freezing.
This plant needs a full sun position, with well drained soil and prefers some protection from heavy frosts. Will grow to about 1 metre tall.
