Borage Blue
Borago officinalis
Annual plant with wide, hairy leaves and star shaped blue flowers. Grows to about 80cm tall, and has culinary and medicinal uses. Flowers can be used in salads, or used to fragrance pot pourri. Tender new leaves can be used in salds, soups or cooked like spinach. Very useful plant for poor soil conditions. Attracts bees to the garden. Seeds contain GLA (gamma linolenic acid) which can be extracted and used as a substitute for evening primrose oil.
